“Europe needs stable peace and prosperity, not confrontation and war!”

DECLARATION of the 4th Regional conference of Russia’s compatriots in Northern Europe and Baltic Sea countries (April 27-28, 2018, Oslo)

To:

the President of the European Parliament, Mr Antonio Tajani

the President of the European Council, Mr Donald Tusk

the President of the European Commission, Mr Jean-Claude Juncker

Dear Sirs,

We, the delegates of the 4th Regional conference of Russia’s compatriots in Northern Europe and Baltic Sea countries, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Red Army soldiers who, together with the Allied countries, had liberated Europe from Nazism in 1945, are extremely concerned by the acute deterioration of the relations between European Union member states and Russia.

The information war and the economic sanctions against Russia haven’t just resulted in an unprecedented spike in Anti-Russian rhetoric and Russophobia. They have also caused and continue to cause serious damage to the relations and prosperity of our countries and peoples.

The progressing growth of confrontaton has led to a new Cold War, in fact. If nothing changes, it might lead to irreparable tragic consequences – to a new world war.

We call upon the parliaments and governments of the European Union member states to act only in their national interests and in the interests of their peoples in relations with Russia – to refuse from the practices and ideas of the Cold War! Europe needs stable peace and prosperity, not confrontation and war!

Yours faithfully,

Delegates of the 4th Regional conference of Russia’s compatriots in Northern Europe and Baltic Sea countries
